hygge (pronounced hoo-ga) is the Scandinavian art of creating joy & coziness in life's smallest everyday moments, whatever the season or time of day. The hygge life shop is a curation of European home decor inspired by these moments.

What does HYGGE LIFE mean to you?

Hygge Life is not only a collection of cozy European home goods but also a way of living. Hygge (pronounced hoo-ga) is the Danish art of creating joy & coziness in life’s smallest every day moments, whatever the season or time of day. I believe that our lives should be filled with the people, things, food, drinks and moments that we truly love. My hope is to inspire people to fill their lives with hygge moments.

My big confession: I can’t pronounce “hygge!” You’re better off asking a Danish friend. ;)

Hygge Life started with the blue “Hygge Bus,” a 1971 Opel Blitz camper. My boyfriend and I traveled around Europe for 3 months spreading “hygge moments” and selling “poffertjes” (mini Dutch pancakes), Turkish textiles, candy & toys.

Hygge Life was originally a collection of European antique & vintage home accessories. My second home was at European flea markets!

what's a day in your shoes like?

I wake up and step onto a soft, fluffy sheepskin beside my bed, brew two cups of coffee for my fiancé & I while he makes two bowls of oatmeal or eggs & toast. I light a candle at at my desk and get to work on spreading the Hygge Life! My evenings are spent with friends and loved ones, preferably with good food & wine and firelight.

what's your greatest accomplishment?

My greatest accomplishment was landing my tall, handsome & kind Dutch fiancé, Koen.

Where did you get your start?

Hygge Life all started on a trip to Copenhagen, Denmark. I discovered the concept of “hygge” and immediately adopted the cozy Danish way of life. The following summer, my boyfriend & I traveled around Europe for 3 months in what we called the “hygge bus,” a 1971 Opel Blitz camper. Since that summer, Hygge Life has continued to grow as we share hygge moments with others.

I find inspiration in nature and firelight: candles, campfires & sparklers.
