FLEAKIN' OUT WITH KIWI & COMPANY
For Simone Meyer, knitting was a passed down family art form. Kiwi and Company is her collection of beautifully-designed fiber arts—like colorful head wraps and soft, hand-knit cowls—and design instruction for the do-it-yourself variety and other nimble knotting cohorts.
What does KIWI & COMPANY mean to you?
I have generations of making in my family history—my love for knitting developed at an early age learning from my mum. Kiwi & Company has allowed me to hone my skills in specialized fiber arts, like felting. I design my own line of cowls, infinity scarves, head wraps, wrist gloves, dog leashes, boot cuffs and upcycled boot covers, and personally hand-knit my line with the highest quality materials. I'm continuously working on new ideas; I live handmade to the fullest.
QUICK FACT #1
Good, honest, handmade knits.

QUICK FACT #3
Felting, done with love.
WAS KNITTING ALWAYS A HOBBY?
I learned as a kid—my mother taught me how to knit.
HOW HAS YOUR DESIGN EVOLVED OVER TIME?
You see your market and you see how fashion changes. You get ideas, or requests, from family, friends and customers. You figure out what's working and what's not and go from there.
WHAT WAS THE FIRST THING YOU EVER MADE?
I don’t even remember! probably a scarf? that’s what everyone starts off with, right?!
WE HEARD ONE OF YOUR PATTERNS HAS BEEN PUBLISHED—TELL US ABOUT THAT.
I was approached, through my Etsy store, and asked if I’d like to submit a pattern to see if it would be accepted into the book. I submitted a couple of patterns and one was accepted! My pattern is now officially in a book called Knit & Wrap by Nathalie Mornu.
